Operating principles
My approach to a six-month secondment — how I would stay successful under migration pressure as Business & Performance Business Partner.
Answering the interview question — approach
This is a 6 month secondment — what do I hope to achieve in those 6 months, and what would my approach be to ensure I am successful?
The achieve half is the six handover deliverables and performance infrastructure. The approach half is three expedition principles applied to Band 8a performance partnering:
My approach would be disciplined, evidence-led and resilient: Fanatic Discipline to keep the work moving, Test and Scale to validate before committing, and Productive Paranoia to protect reporting confidence during change.
Three principles — one page each
Steady, repeatable progress — ten miles every day, not zero when conditions are hard.
In practice: agreed definitions each month, checks before publish, named owners — so services trust the numbers under migration pressure.

Test routes cheaply with probes and pilots; scale decisively once evidence is clear.
In practice: side-by-side definition tests, small pilots with managers, honest stop when an idea misleads.
Read principle
Prepared vigilance when dashboards refresh but definitions may have drifted.
In practice: confidence ratings, fallback routes, withhold from Board when checks fail — even if feeds look fine.
